Covid-19 Safety Plan

Client Guidance

Your safety: Covid-19 Symptoms: Please cancel your appointment if you suspect you have any COVID-19-related symptoms, or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the past 14 days. We do not charge cancellation fees. (Symptoms may include: a temperature above 38 degrees, fever, dry cough, fatigue, aches, diarrhoea, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, difficulty breathing, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting.)

QR code check in: Van's now has a unique NHS Test and Trace QR code. The the app enables you to be contacted directly if the need arises. To take part, please download the app and enter your details and then check in via the QR code on arrival: https://www.nhs.uk/apps-library/nhs-covid-19/

Temperature checking:  Your stylist will check your temperature using a non-contact thermometer when you arrive to ensure your temperature is not above 38 degrees.

Travel: We encourage you to travel by any means other than public transport where possible.

Arrival/entry: Please arrive alone and on time for your appointment. If you are unable to attend without assistance from another person, please let us know in advance so we can bear this in mind with our room layout.

Hand washing: It is essential that you wash your hands for 20 seconds as soon as you arrive at the salon. Use a disposable paper towel to dry your hands. We encourage you to also wash or sanitize your hands before you leave the salon.

Masks: It is essential that you wear a mask to your appointment, preferably one that loops around your ears. If you do not have a mask, we have disposable ones we can provide, but bringing your own helps us with the cost and supply of these. You may want to bring a spare one in case the one you wear for your appointment gets hairy.

Social distancing: The waiting area will be arranged to enable social distancing, please follow the signs, floor markings and direction of the team. Please be mindful of remaining 2 metres away from others in the shop whenever possible.

Cold weather/salon ventilation: It’s important to keep the windows in the salon open for ventilation, but we recognise that as the weather gets colder this means that it could be colder than is comfortable in the salon. Please bring an extra layer with you if you are worried about being cold, and please ask us if you’d like to have the heaters on.

Your service: Conversation with your stylist: Your stylist will be wearing PPE and it may be difficult and tiring for them to engage in non-essential conversations during your service. We hope you will be supportive and understanding if this is the case.

Limited products: We are unable to use any products that are stored in open pots, such as clay, putty, paste and wax due to the potential for cross contamination. We do have some products we can use such as hairspray, gel, mousse and leave in conditioners. You’re welcome to bring your own styling product and we will happily apply.

Use of toilet: Clients are welcome to use our toilet. We aim to disinfect the key toilet touch points as often as possible throughout the day and we leave a disinfectant spray and blue roll in the bathroom if you wish to disinfect before and after you use the facilities.

Essentials only: Please bring as few belongings as possible. Limited refreshments can be provided by us in disposable cups but we invite you to bring your own water or flask with you if required.

Payment: Please pay with card or contactless wherever possible. A member of staff will wipe the card keypad with one of the disinfectant wipes between clients.
